Soul Mate

(Created before June 29, 2012)

You ever get an idea that you just can't get out of your head?  I came up with the idea for this song while putting out stock one day, and since it didn't go away as time went by, I finally gave in and wrote it.  Hope you find it amusing.  I sure did.

This song is dedicated to my wife, more perfect than anything  in this song (once I meet her, anyway)

Soul Mate

Over from the store comes wayward Steve,
He comes up with stuff like I can't believe

As he walks up he's grinning from ear to ear
He begins to tell his story as he draws near

"I saw my soul mate today!
Her eyes were like shiny black pearls
And her hair had these pretty black swirls
Her body was just the right height
I've never seen a more lovely sight
Please, tell me her name."

I say "If you and I are on the same page,
She goes by the name Heather Hage
She's married with two kids and one on the way
You go near her and you'll dearly pay"

Well wayward Steve lets that one go
It's not long til he comes to let me know

"I saw my soul mate today!
Her hair fell over her back like a waterfall
She was cute, but that's not all
I could tell as soon as she came around the corner
That she's done good with the lemons life gave her
Please, tell me her name."

I say "If you and I are thinking alike,
She goes by the name Sally Sike
She's married with four kids and one on the way
You go near her and you'll dearly pay

Soon I could tell Steve had found another
I let the wayward man tell me about her

"I saw my soul mate today!
Her hazel eyes sparked like a gem
My heart skipped a beat all of a sudden
I stopped breathing when I heard her voice
More melodious than an angel's, it was nice
Please, tell me her name."

I say, "If that's the one I'm thinking of,
She goes by the name Mary Markov
She's married with six kids and one on the way,
You go near her and you'll dearly pay.

Wayward Steve came to me once again
A final time to confess his eyes' latest sin
"I saw my soul mate today!
Her freckled face was tan and cheerful
Also her body was shapely and beautiful
Don't tell me she has eight kids, sir,
I'd shave off my goatee for her
Please, tell me her name."

I say, my eyes cutting like a knife,
"Wayward Steve, that's my wife!"
